Accessibility Statement
Our WCAG 2.1 AA commitment and how to report a barrier.
Last updated
This statement covers eyevora.com. It sets out what we have built, what we know is still missing, and how to reach a person if something here gets in your way.
1. Our commitment
We are building eyevora.com to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. An eyewear shop that people with low vision cannot use would be a particularly poor joke, so this is treated as a requirement rather than a nice-to-have.
A target, not yet a certified claim
We have not completed an independent accessibility audit. This statement describes what we have deliberately built and what we know is still missing — not a conformance certificate. We would rather tell you that than publish a claim we cannot yet evidence.
2. What the site does today
- Keyboard operation. Every interactive control can be reached and used with a keyboard alone, and focus is visibly indicated.
- Screen readers. Pages use real headings, landmarks and lists, so a screen reader can navigate by structure. Interactive components are built on accessible primitives rather than styled div elements.
- Contrast. Body text and interface controls are checked against the 4.5:1 contrast ratio Level AA requires.
- Colour is never the only signal. Errors, warnings and states carry an icon and text as well as a colour.
- Text scaling and zoom. Layouts use relative units and reflow to 200% zoom without content being cut off.
- Images. Meaningful images carry alternative text; decorative ones are hidden from assistive technology so they do not add noise.
- Forms. Every field has a visible, associated label; errors are announced and focus moves to the first problem.
- Reduced motion. There are no carousels, no parallax and no auto-playing media anywhere on the site.
3. What we know is not there yet
Listing these is more useful to you than omitting them. We are working through them:
- The virtual try-on is inherently visual. Positioning a frame on a photo is a task with no good non-visual equivalent. Every frame’s measurements are published in full text on its product page so that sizing does not depend on the try-on, but the try-on itself is not usable without sight.
- No independent audit yet. Planned before public launch, with testing by people who actually use assistive technology rather than by us with a checker.
- Arabic language support is not live. Right-to-left layout and an Arabic interface are planned; today the site is English only.
- Third-party checkout steps. Payment pages hosted by Stripe, Tabby and Tamara are outside our control. We choose providers who take accessibility seriously, but we cannot fix their pages.
4. Tell us about a barrier
If something on this site blocked you, we want to hear about it — a report about a real barrier is worth more to us than any automated score.
- Email support@eyevora.com with “Accessibility” in the subject
- Call +971 800 EYEVORA during support hours
- Use the contact form
Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what technology you were using if you know it. We aim to acknowledge within one working day and to give you a plan and a timescale within five.
5. If you cannot complete something
If any part of the site stops you from ordering, call or email us and we will take the order with you directly — including reading out frame measurements, checking a prescription, and arranging delivery. You will pay the same price and get the same returns rights. Nobody should have to pay more or get less because a page did not work.
Questions about this policy?
Write to us and a person will answer — we would rather clarify something here than have you guess at it.
